Please Give

MY EMPOWERED FLOWER has formed an alliance with an organization known as Americans for UNFPA. This nationally recognized 501c3 nonprofit is dedicated to promoting the health and rights of women in over 150 countries. They have enthusiastically agreed to help me allocate my proceeds and ANY donations I solicit to Agnes Pareyio and her second center, the Sakutiek Rescue House.

The Power to Empower

gold medallionThe one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry you are viewing has the power to change a life and bring hope and encouragement to someone half a world away.

Owning this pendant makes a powerful statement. Proceeds from the sale of every “MY EMPOWERED FLOWER” will go to support rescue centers in Africa and save countless girls from the horrors of FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION. Each year, two million girls are at risk of undergoing this act of violence.

The Sakutiek Rescue Center is the second safe house founded by Agnes Pareyio, a FGM survivor. This rescue center is located in the the Rift Valley, Massai Territory, 100 miles West of Nairobi, Kenya. The SRC is a safe haven for girls from FGM; a place where young women can safely celebrate an alternative “rite of passage” enabling Massai women to follow their tradition without undergoing a cut. Ninety percent of the women in this part of the world have arranged marriages and routinely undergo genital mutilation.

I had the opportunity to visit Sakutiek Rescue Center in October 2008. Please visit my Photo Gallery to share my reflection on theis extraordinary trip.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this jewelry will be donated to Sakutiek Rescue Center.
